We recently welcomed our new Director of Admissions, Bobbi Andrews. She has been working in education for several years and decided to bring her talents down to Florida for a new adventure. We conducted a short Q&A with her to get to know her a little better – read below for more!
1. Tell us a little about your background.
“I grew up in Indiana and education was a huge part of my family. My “stomping grounds” was Purdue University’s campus where my father was a professor and International Department head. I was never a fan of Indiana so I headed out to California after college where I was a project manager for a high end window and door dealer. I didn’t look good in a hard hat so I found my way back into education. I then returned to Indianapolis to begin a career in admissions which took me next to North Carolina…the obvious next step was to try this side of the United States and land in Florida!”
2. What made you want to work in University admissions?
“Education, Admissions and students are my passion! I am excited to transfer my previous skills in a traditional University environment to increase enrollment and improve processes. Doing the right thing by all prospective students and creating a great student experience are the drivers in my career!”
3. What excited you most about working at Webber?
“I keep saying since my time here that there is something special about this campus. Staff, faculty and students alike love and care about this place and everybody is on the same page to move it in a positive direction. I have appreciated the support from all departments and the partnerships that are in place to ensure we all succeed and to continue to be this gem that it is for students.”
4. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
“Jamaica Mon! I have never been but I love the sun, the perceived laid back and welcoming atmosphere and the music!”
5. What’s your favorite food?
“Sushi and almost all types of seafood!”
6. What’s one thing that would surprise people about you?
“I am a closet Deadhead! Which means my favorite band of all time is the Grateful Dead…don’t judge me.”
Welcome to Webber! We are excited to have you!
