Veterans Education Benefits

Webber International University is approved by the State of Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs for the training of Veterans and soldiers on active duty.

WIU is a Military Friendly institution. WIU provides personal service and advising to service members, dependents and veterans.

Veterans Affairs Educational Benefits provide eligible servicemen/women and eligible dependents with an opportunity for higher education. The certifying official in the Financial Aid/Registrar Office will certify a Veteran Education benefit recipient, once eligibility has been established and the student is registered for classes.

  1. Apply online using the Veterans Online Application – VONAPP for new applications.
  2. If you have previously used VA education benefits, only use VONAPP if you are changing schools or programs. If you have a pending application, do not use VONAPP to resubmit your claim. I f you need the status of your claim, contact the Education Division at 1-888-442-4551.
  3. Please print the VONAPP submitted application for benefits & mail a copy to the WIU Registrar, 1201 N Scenic Hwy, PO Box 96, Babson Park, FL 33827 or by email:
  4. Once the VA receives and approves your application for benefits, you will receive a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA. Please also send a copy of the COE to the Registrar as in Step 2. The COE is the most important form needed by the Certifying Official to begin processing your benefits, the COE includes the veterans claim number, type of benefit and eligibility expiration date. Students may check the status of their claim by calling the GI Bill Education Call Center at 1-888-442-4551, or online at
  5. Request your academic transcripts and service related transcripts be sent to WIU.

WIU accepts military service education and training as recommended by the American Council on Education and the Department f Defense. Recommended credits are awarded to service members upon the receipt of official transcripts. Transcripts are evaluated in accordance with WIU policies. Some credits may not pertain to the degree. Every consideration is made to award credit for the benefit of the student.

Veterans from the Army,  National Guard, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy should request a Joint Services transcript  at . Complete instructions are provided on the website. Students will need to register for a JST account.

Community College of the Air Force Transcripts – In the Air Force, the only branch of the Military service that has its own University System – which automatically converts your training into College credit. The Community College of the Air Force is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Once a student is certified and has begun attendance, the student is responsible for reporting to the Veterans Administration continued eligibility for the semester. Some programs require a monthly verification. Students may access WAVE (Web automated verification of Enrollment) to submit for 22-8879 or use IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system on the phone at 1-877-823-2378.

The certifying official will report any change of enrollment once during the semester to the Veterans Administration.

POST 911 Benefit Scholarship Policy for traditional students–

Students eligible for the Post 911 GI Bill program are eligible for up to $21,084.89 for the 2015-16 academic year to cover Tuition and Fees only. VA benefit amounts adjust yearly.

Students who reside on campus may use federal, state and institutional financial aid not specifically designated for tuition and fees toward room, and board. Institutional aid will not be refunded or used for books. Student’s use their VA book stipend for books and supplies.

Students who do not reside on campus will have their institutional scholarships applied to tuition and fees. State aid designated toward tuition and fees will be deducted, Post 911 benefits will be billed for remaining allowable tuition and fees up to the maximum yearly benefit.

Federal Title IV Aid and state aid and other outside sources of aid not solely designated for tuition and fees will not be deducted from this benefit. The FRAG and the Children of Deceased or Disabled Veterans from the State of Florida are solely designated for tuition and fees.

In general, Title IV aid (Pell, SEOG, Perkins Loans, Direct Loans and PLUS Loans) will not be affected by VA benefits. A Pell Grant and /or Student Loan recipient will have their federal aid not designated for tuition and fees applied to room and board and books.

The student should not expect any refund of VA benefits, Tuition Assistance, Webber Scholarships/grants or any other aid source designated for tuition and fees.

Students taking on-line courses may receive a lesser BAH than students who physically attend classes on campus.
