Webber International University Promotes Dr. Fred Fening to Full Professor Babson Park, Florida Dr. Charles Shieh, Chief Academic Officer, has announced that Dr. Fred Fening has been promoted from the rank of Associate Professor to the rank of Professor. Fening joined the Webber Faculty in 2007. He was appointed the Leslie D. Reagin III Chair of Strategic Management in 2009. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2012. Said Dr. Keith Wade, President and CEO, “this is the highest rank our university has to bestow, and promotion to this rank is taken very, very seriously. Fred’s application for promotion, encompassing many hundreds of pages, evidenced extraordinary teaching, voluminous peer reviewed research, selfless and significant community service, and genuine and substantial contribution to scholarship. After a thorough review by the Committee of Full Professors, the application was reviewed by the Chief Academic Officer and then by me. It’s a rightfully grueling and rigorous process. To say that this promotion was well earned is an understatement. We are absolutely unapologetic about the bar for promotion being extraordinarily high at Webber.” Fening holds an MBA in business finance, a Doctor of Business Administration in international business, and an advanced professional graduate certificate in management (doctoral level certification). He is an associate member of the Institute of Cost and Executive Accountants, a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Financial Managers, and an associate member of the Institute of Management. He is also a certified professional consultant from the American Consultants League. He is a regular member of the American Society of Quality, a member of the Academy of International Business, and currently the board chairman of the Ghana Quality Organization. Established in 1927 by Roger Babson as the first college chartered under Florida’s then new charitable and educational laws and one of the first schools of business for women in the nation, Webber International University now educates men and women from over 50 different nations. Students at Webber’s Florida campus major in one of the many disciplines of business offered at the associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s level through traditional day, accelerated night and weekend, and entirely on-line formats. Joining Webber as a branch campus in 2011, and featuring a comprehensive liberal arts curriculum, St. Andrews University was established by merger in 1961 but traces its roots back to the 1896 founding of its predecessor Flora Macdonald College. The University features highly qualified faculty, highly engaged staff, small class size, and a wide array of intercollegiate sports and other extracurricular activities. The University has been recognized as a Princeton Review Best in the Southeast College, a US News and World Reports America’s Best Colleges designee, and a GI Jobs America’s Most Military Friendly School. The University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and several programs have earned additional programmatic accreditations.
