Dr. Eileen Farchmin Associate Professor - Sport Business Management

Dr. Eileen Farchmin is an Associate Professor of Sport Business Management in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. She teaches classes at the undergraduate level in Introduction to Sport Business Management, Ethics & Issues in Sport, Sport Promotion, Sport Information and Media Relations, and Facility & Event Management. In the graduate program Dr. Farchmin teaches Legal & Political Aspects of Sport and Integrative Approaches to Sport Events. In addition, Dr. Farchmin also holds the position of Faculty Athletic Representative. In that position she is charged with the responsibility of ensuring that all participants in intercollegiate competition are eligible in accordance with the rules and regulations of the NAIA.

Dr. Farchmin received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Physical Education from Transylvania University, a Master of Science degree in Sport Administration from Eastern Kentucky University and a Doctorate of Philosophy degree with a concentration in Sport Management from Florida State University.

Dr. Farchmin has presented at the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, & Dance conventions. The presentation was based on her dissertation titled “Before the Revolution: The Experiences of Women Involved in Intercollegiate Athletics: 1950 – 1972 was published in 2003.

Dr. Farchmin also serves as Webber International University’s representative on the Lake Wales Recreation Advisory Board. This board assists the City in public relations relating to recreational events; assist in coordinating with school, service, church and civic organizations for the purpose of planning and promoting various city-sponsored recreational programs and events

As well as teaching Dr. Farchmin is the Faculty Athletic Representative, serving as an integral link between the athletic department and the faculty on campus, working with the athletics director to provide a rules education program in a manner consistent with the best practices approved and published by the Council of Faculty Athletics Representatives. In that position she is charged with the responsibility of ensuring that all participants in intercollegiate competition are eligible in accordance with the rules and regulations of the NAIA. Dr. Farchmin is responsible for all eligibility research and documentation for the sixteen Webber International University teams that compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

In 2008 Dr. Farchmin was selected as the Eligibility Chair of The Sun Conference. In this position she reviews all eligibility paperwork for the twelve teams in the conference. In the fall of 2014 she will also be the Eligibility Chair for The Sun Conference Football division. The Eligibility Chair also receives and reviews all reports of institutional violations and all requests for exceptions from its members.

Dr. Farchmin is currently the Secretary for the Faculty Athletic Representatives Association. She has been the past Vice-Chair and President of that association. She also currently serves on the National Conduct and Ethics Committee for the NAIA. The National Conduct and Ethics Committee is empowered to process all conduct
and/or ethics cases and apply appropriate penalties of Article VI, Section C of the NAIA Bylaws which are not reserved exclusively to the Council of Presidents

Dr. Farchmin has also served on the Gender Equity Committee and on the Council of Faculty Athletic Representatives Association of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics conventions

Prior to her time at FSU, Dr. Farchmin attended Transylvania University where she competed in both field hockey (three times MVP, one time All-State) and basketball (one time MVP)
