WIU ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AWARD THREE SCHOLARSHIPS

The Webber International University Alumni Association has awarded three book scholarships for the Spring Semester 2010. The recipients are: 

Jeanette Hicks, a sophomore from Lake Wales, FL, with a major in Corporate Communications…$200
Tyler Reichwein, a senior from Eustis, FL, with a major in Sport Management…$400
Rodrigo Hernandez, a sophomore from Soria, Spain, with a major in Marketing…$300 

The WIU Alumni Association Book Scholarship Program is designed to award scholarships to deserving students each semester for maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students must apply for the scholarship each semester and write an essay. The selection committee then picks the deserving winners based on their essay, financial need, and grade point average.

The Alumni Book Scholarship Program is funded by donations received from generous alumni and friends of Webber.

Scholarships are Awarded as Follows:

GPA: 4.0 $400
GPA: 3.75 - 3.99 $300
GPA 3.5 - 3.74 $200
GPA 3.0 - 3.49 $100

WIU Establishes Kelly Ann Wilson Memorial Scholarship

Babson Park: The President of Webber International University, in Babson Park, Rex R. Yentes, has announced the establishment of the Kelly Ann Wilson Memorial Scholarship. "This scholarship has been established in memory of Kelly Wilson and will be given annually to deserving student or students", stated Yentes. Wilson, from Babson Park and a graduate of Lake Wales High School, was a freshman at Webber International University when she lost her battle with cystic fibrosis.

Kelly's parents, Steve and Kathy Wilson are both graduates of Webber and Kathy has been employed at WIU for over 20 years. The scholarship will be awarded through the WIU Financial Aid office. Kathy Wilson, Director of Financial Aid and registrar will establish the criteria and will select the recipient or recipients.

Donations are being accepted for the scholarship fund through the Financial Aid office. Checks should be made out to Webber International University and mailed to: Mrs. Kathy Wilson, WIU P.O. Box 96, Babson Park, FL 33827. For additional information you may call Mrs. Wilson at 863-638-2930.

Webber International established the original amount of $2,000.00 for the scholarship. Any additional principal funds contributed will be permanently restricted. Only the interest from the funds will be used to add the scholarship amount. "This is an endowed scholarship that will grow through the years and we hope we can help many worthy students in honor and memory of Kelly", said President Yentes.
